More good news for animals! The Italian Senate has voted in favour of a phase out of ALL animals in circuses and travelling exhibitions. The final vote, in the second Chamber of the Parliament, is expected by the end of November. Following adoption of the new law, rules for implementation will be set next year by a Ministerial decree. Current legislation governing the use of animals in circuses dates back to 1968 and is out of step with public opinion, with independent polls showing more than 70% favour a ban. As part of a campaign with our friends at LAV, the award-winning Lion Ark The Movie has been screened in the Senate, Turin, and Grosseto, showing how the lives of animals are transformed once freed of their circus cages and chains.
