Stray Animal Rescue

Vermittlung und Spenden:

The animal rescue activity has always been part of our lifes. We have started being more active in 2010, by saving from death a little of 11 puppies from the student house where we were living. We then decided to help also the adults residing in the yard of the student house, another 10. Then we expanded and starting helping stray animals all over Bucharest.

In 4 years we have managed to rehome over 400 dogs with minimum funds. We have rehomed dogs in Germany, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway.

We will not stop here , as our vision is to live in a country with no stray dogs, suffering, cruelty. We will invest all our time and efforts into rehoming as many dogs as we can, in the same time neutering conforming to our neutering scheme.

Stray Animal Rescue (SAR) was formed in 2013 by a small group of citizens with a shared concern for both animal welfare and the public health. We have remained true to our mission of helping all animals in need, regardless of species or breed. At our Shelter, we care for and find permanent, loving homes for dogs, cats and other companion animals. We have no time limit on an animal’s stay with us – we keep all companion animals until they are adopted.

At our veterinary clinic we offer free medical treatment, and most important, free spay and neuterings, in order to reach our primary goal: reduce overpopulation of animals.

MISSION STATEMENT : Stray Animal Rescue’s mission is to provide temporary shelter, care, treatment , medical attention and comfort to as many abandoned pets, to injured and endangered animals. We want to restore faith to neglected, abused and abandoned pets in humans, and educate the people towards a better treatment of animals, our main goal is to reduce overpopulation through spay and neutering campaigns.

S.A.R. is a project under romanian non-profit organization “Grupul pentru Guvernare” (GovernanceGroup) dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs streets and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, trainers, and boarding facilities, we are able to rescue hundreds of animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes. We also serve as a resource to our community and all pet owners by providing free neuterings, education and information on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition.

We starting building up the shelter in October 2013.

We started the shelter from zero, we had just the land, so we had to take authorisations for the entire building, fence, electricity, canalisation system, waste area.

Now, after 1 year, our shelter  has the capacity of 50 spaces, built at high standars. One paddock is splitted in 2 : a place for a big isolated doghouse, and an outside area, all covered by roof. We built a resistent and secure fence, we install the electricity, we built the canalisation and waste area system.

The next step is the playground and training area that it will help us in the adoption process.
